A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Do you find the news reporting in the free papers unfulfilling? Does it make you want to know more background, more facts, and have some more intelligence applied to it? It's the macdonalds of the media and isn't doing my brain any good.
In addition free newspapers across the world require 11,500 new trees to be felled EVERY DAY. That's AFTER taking into account the (self reported) 70% recycled materials figure (so they use the equivalent of some 38,000 trees each day).
So bad for the brain, bad for the planet.
I've taken to listening to audiobooks on my ipod instead. You can listen to a story, or a book like 'Nudge' or something, during ALL of your commute, not just the bit you're on the tube or bus for.
- make my voice heard and help young people’s views to get noticed. When I have an opinion on a news story, I will voice it in the media by commenting online, writing to editors of papers or magazines, or calling in to TV or radio programmes. It’s our news too.
- organise a "Hackday for the Animals" in London
- stand for Parliament and pledge £50.00 towards the costs

Its got huge numbers of public domain (mostly copyright expired) books, read by volunteers. Some of them are not read perfectly or by people with funny accents, but for the most part they are very good.
As they are public domain, they are free to download and you can leacaly give copys to anyone you like!
